JOTI
IRC POPUPS

Figure 0.1 These colourful pictures are called popups or mrcs.

What is a popup?
A popup is a short cut to a series of keystrokes that will pop up on channel when you;
1. left-click on a nickname with your mouse (which highlights the nick)
2. right-click on the selected nick (this will give you a list of your available popups)
3. left-click on one of the choices.

Figure 0.2 Danger Trout approaching!!!

A new IRC user will generally only have a trout.... Have you been slapped by a trout today?

Remember during JOTI:

  • As a guideline - Limit all popups to 2 to 3 lines. ( a line is 45 Characters long)
  • Color may be frowned apon, best not get use your extremely colourful popups [check before use]
  • Due to the number of users, don't test new popups on a #joti channel; try them in #test
  • Just a reminder, JOTI will be sounds-lite and colors-lite. Change your popups so you don't interfere with others' systems during JOTI.

How do I do that?

II. Adding colour to popups
