JOTI 1999

Ah, another JOTI survived .... how come the kids don't look so bad after only a few hours sleep? We were up until Sunday 4am with some adventurous types, and then had a fresh lot ready to go at 9am .... I think a couple of operators managed 56+ hours without sleep <*Chuckle*>

JOTI/JOTA 1999 was held at Chelsea Life Saving Club (horrible views, but then we have to force ourselves through some hardships). Our layout was a large horse shoe to try and protect the cabling, as we ran a hybrid UTP and thin-ethernet network. Internet access was shared via the Win32 "iShare" software. For JOTA we used WinRadio.

The electronic projects seemed to work pretty well this year, and the network based games were also popular. The electronic projects were LED flip flop circuits and a crash course in PC repairs to get some of the machines working.

The LCD projector was a good idea, it let the cubs who were daunted by the speed of the typing and communication get a good feel for IRC (and built up their confidence).

The pin board maps and atlas collection gave the cubs a good feel for how gloabl JOTI/JOTA really is; where was that again?

Of course playdough was always on the program ... (quick get me a pen).
