Description

Each Research Report will be allotted a total time of 40 minutes: 20 minutes for the oral presentation and 20 minutes for discussion. Two types of papers are suitable for Research Reports:

A. Reports of studies (observational, ethnographic, experimental, quasi-experimental, and case studies are all suitable). These types of papers should contain at least the following:

B. Theoretical and philosophical essays. These should include at least the following:

Proposals for Research Reports will be reviewed by three PME members with experience in the area. Specifically, reviewers for reports of studies (A) will be asked to comment on the following: Theoretical framework and related literature, methodology (if appropriate), statement and discussion of results, clarity, and relevance to PME audience. Reviewers for theoretical and philosophical essays (B) will be asked to comment on the theoretical framework and related literature, on the articulated statement of the author's position, on implications for existing and further research and on relevance to the PME audience. More guidelines will be given directly to the reviewers.

If a submission is not accepted as a Research Report, the Program Committee may suggest to the author(s) that they resubmit it as a Short Oral Communication or a Poster Presentation. A research group may propose a set of different Research Reports provided that the papers are significantly different and that a different author presents each paper. If the papers are interrelated and accepted, the Program Committee will try to schedule the papers in consecutive time-slots.

Proposals for Research Report presentations (that is, the papers) must be in the hands of the Conference Secretariat not later than 12 January, 2005. It is strongly recommended to use the forms on the PME29 website or directly on http://igpme.org/forms/RR_SO_PP_proposal.html . Notification of receipt will be e-mailed in February 2005. Please contact us if you have not received this notification by the end of February. Notification of acceptance of the proposal will be e-mailed in April 2005.

In order for a proposal to be considered, the presenting author(s) must pay the Conference Deposit not later than 12 January, 2005. Full payment has to be received not later than 31 May, 2005 for an accepted report to be included in the Conference Proceedings and in the Conference Program.

Note: If you are an inexperienced researcher without access to a mentor to help you prepare a research report, you may like to take advantage of the Early Bird process for the PME30 conference in 2006.

Guidelines

Please note that you can be the presenting author of just one Research Report. There is no limitation on the number of times you are listed as a co-author.

When preparing a proposal you are requested to:
