The Richard Skemp Memorial Fund was set up to assist researchers who might otherwise have difficulty attending PME conferences. It allows the community of mathematics education researchers to contribute to its own development and growth: members can make contributions to the fund and the fund is used to provide support for those who, through various circumstances, have limited opportunity to participate in that community.
|
A limited amount of financial support is available to researchers who experience difficulty in obtaining financial support to attend PME conference for racial, political or philosophical reasons, or because of economic circumstances.
Persons who face such constraints may apply for financial support. Applications for a grant to attend the PME29 Conference should be sent before 1 March, 2005 to the PME Executive Secretary.
In allocating the funds the following factors will be taken into account and should be referred to in the application:
Applicants should note that:
For more information see the PME web site: http://igpme.org
The International Committee calls on members to make donations, however small, to the Skemp Fund to enable PME to support more colleagues to attend the PME29 Conference. Donations may be included with the Conference Deposit/Membership Details Form. The Registration fee includes a AUD$15 contribution, and any additional donations will be received with gratitude and put to good use to support PME participants in difficult circumstances. This additional contribution can be made through the membership/registration form, available from the forms page.
